With Scotland possibly gaining Independence this September – where does that leave the rest of the Union? Scotland will be out of the European Union without even having had to invoke Article 51 of the Lisbon Treaty!
Although England may still be in the EU for now, it has enjoyed the ties of other English-speaking nations over the years, sharing not only the language but cultural and religious ties. In the event of England leaving the EU in the future, the English Democrats will be looking to the Commonwealth so shabbily treated in 1973 by Ted Heath and the Conservative Govt.
When we joined the EEC – we abandoned our friends and kin in the Commonwealth who had fought alongside us in the 2nd World War who at the time were suppliers of foodstuffs at very efficient prices.
We had New Zealand lamb, wool, cheese and butter; Canadian wheat and cheese; From Australia more wool and lamb; Environmentally friendly grown sugar from the West Indies – sugar cane is the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective way of growing sugar. When we joined the EEC because sugar was such a huge part of the West Indian economy we were constrained to have a transitional period where we continued to pay subsidies to the West Indies until they could find other sources to trade. Also, from Africa we had been importing tobacco from Zimbabwe but abruptly pulled out of this trade. Some of us bitterly regretted this and the English Democrats wishing to get out of the EU would like to forge stronger links with the Commonwealth nations once again. Therefore we welcome Commonwealth citizens who live in England and are entitled to vote in the elections this coming week and we urge them that if they love England then English Democrats are the only Party ‘Putting England First’. And when we get elected we will do all in our power to develop further links and trade directly with the Commonwealth.
I am seeking to draw the attention of British Commonwealth ex-pats living in the London and the UK during May 2014. If you have registered to vote then you are able to vote in the current elections of the European Parliament this Thursday 22nd May 2014. My party www.EnglishDemocrats.org are very kean tp promote and increase ties with our Commonwealth citizens through these elections.
Unlike any of the other parties campaigning in these elections, the English Democrats put the interests of England and her people first. We regret the arbitrary, self-interested way the British Government turned its back on the Commonwealth in 1973 and we have been campaigning to leave the EU and forge stronger links with the Commonwealth. If we should succeed in these EU elections the Party will endeavour to leave the EU and encourage again greater ties of friendship and trade with our Commonwealth friends.
I wondered if I could ask you to help pass our message to New Zealanders, Australians, Canadians, Indians etc living in the UK from all Commonwealth countries, especially those living in London. If you love London and England as much as the English Democrats do then please vote English Democrats on 22nd May. We are the only Party PUTTING ENGLAND FIRST !
The NHS has been a national treasure much envied by people around the world. However it has become unwieldy and even hijacked by private enterprise keen to take advantage of a break up of its parts. The Government has been encouraging Foreign private companies setting up with a ready stream of nhs patients. Now American health companies are interested in taking over the management of the nhs which can only mean splitting it up and making it more of a private health service. So what will become of our NHS set up after world war II and has been a beacon to all other countries where the health service is not free, hence the health tourists that are not prevented from visiting here regularly to have their operations free.
London is experiencing a crisis with the sheer numbers that need treatment, especially in maternity departments where there are not enough midwives to deal with the influx arriving from around the world in the latter stages of pregnancy.
The Government has even been paying Polish women to return to their country for the births because of the overcrowding.
Billions of £ are being spent on translators in hospitals because of the demand by overseas visitors and those moving here who do not speak English. If you have been to a doctor or hospital overseas were you provided with an interpreter? – It is very unlikely.
The Government is coping with this crisis by cutting hospital A & E’s and even some profitable hospitals. With the population ever-increasing we need more hospitals not less.
We have many retirees coming back from Spain because of the economic crisis and the fact that they are now charging for medical treatment – so much for reciprocal arrangements that Pro EU MP’s keep repeating.
How can we change this?
1) All those moving to this country – however they come be they migrants, asylum seekers etc have to take out insurance to cover health costs. We are seeing a great deal of people arriving in this country with health issues like TB and even HIV. When our own people in England cannot get the drugs for breast cancer treatment because of rising costs, it makes a mockery that thousands of people unchecked are pouring in to this country who immediately sign up for treatment which they could not afford in their own country.
2) We must have a points system for entering this country and we must in this day and age be able to count them in and out accordingly. It is an excuse to fudge
the numbers which ultimately undermines the economy of this country at all levels
as it is the infrastructure that needs to be addressed before having an open door policy for all. If America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc can operate an electronic system that counts and screens people automatically – then why can’t we?
3) We must say No to Health Tourists and have some guts to do so before this island sinks without trace from being overwhelmed with the demands put upon it.
4) What else can we do about this ? As it is our problem and if we don’t solve it now we are all, including our future children lost in the destruction right now of a country we are proud at the moment to belong to.
5) Do you have any suggestions or concerns about the NHS?
DON’T BE COWED! VOTE ENGLISH DEMOCRATS!
Once again, The English Democrats create opportunity for the people of England to elect candidates who aim to put the interests of the majority first, the 84% of the UK living in England . . . THIS is more like true democracy!
Persistently pandering to the demands of so called minorities is the antithesis of democracy!
Here is an opportunity to vote for what you WANT!
Do not be deflected the delusion fostered by the CON-LAB-LIB gang that you would be ‘wasting’ your vote if you don’t for them. You are really wasting your vote if you do vote for any of them!
I have to admit I was quite amazed when I heard on the radio that the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander (a Scot no less) made the announcement on a visit to Cornwall that under European rules for the protection of national minorities he granted the Cornish people of England minority status.
I was driving at the time a had to pull over to listen and check that it was NOT April Fool’s Day. It was the 24th April. With no public debate or even a discussion in the Press beforehand the Cornish will gain the same status as other Celtic communities – the Scots, Welsh and the Irish.
On arriving at Bodmin Mr Alexander stated “Cornish people have a proud history and a distinct identity. I am delighted that we have been able to officially recognise this and afford the Cornish people the same status as other minorities in the U.K.”
Dick Cole, leader of Mebyon Kernow which campaigned for Cornish devolution said: “This is a fantastic development. This is a proud day for Cornwall. A lot of people have been working for many years to get Cornwall the recognition other Celtic people of the UK already receive.”
The minority status has been officially recognised and sponsored by the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities. In effect, it has materialised under the EU’s interest to fragment constituent nation states in order to maintain control over the separated regions. A factor I believe that the EU is encouraging Scotland in its referendum for Independence.
I was also surprised by Cornish people’s newly awarded status since there are many English people from the north of England who have retired there and thousands of holiday homes owned by English people.
So where does this leave England and English identity? If Scotland, Ireland, Wales and now Cornwall can be proud of their cultures and history why is it that there is such devisiveness between being English and British?
The English Democrats is the only political party to campaign for an English Democracy. Scotland and Wales both have directly elected bodies to vote on their national policies, but England doesn’t! The English Democrats believe that England deserves its own First Minister, Government and Parliament. We believe that it’s only fair that the English have the same level of representation as every other nation in the UK. Currently Scottish and Welsh MPs both vote on English matters. The English Democrats are committed to putting an end to this injustice and providing the English with a democratic voice.
The previous Labour Government’s devolution policy has seriously undermined the English sense of identity. As I am a twin, I feel strongly that identity is a powerful factor in people’s wellbeing and English identity needs protecting.
In 2011 the UK Government census showed that 60% of people living in England gave their National identity as only English, with a further 10% claiming a dual identity of English/British.
I am English, – So if you Love England too then please vote English Democrats in the European Elections as we are the only Party PUTTING ENGLAND FIRST!
